In dieser Petition wehren sich die Fans gegen die Ausstrahlung des verleumderischen Films „Leaving Neverland“, der beim Sundance Festival gezeigt werden soll. Auch die Nachlassverwaltung hat reagiert.
Update: Hier Adressen, damit ihr euch direkt an die Festival-Veranstalter und TV-Macher wenden könnt, die den Film ausstrahlen möchten, obwohl die Schadenersatz-Klagen von Wade Robson und Jimmy Safechuck vor Gericht zurückgewiesen wurden.

Ein Repräsentant vom MJ-Nachlass liess gegenüber „Variety“ verlauten, dass dies ein weiterer unerhörter und erbärmlicher Versuch sei, mit Michael Jackson Geld zu verdienen: „This is yet another lurid production in an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on Michael Jackson. Wade Robson and James Safechuck [who was Jackson’s companion as a child and sued Jackson’s estate over sexual abuse claims] have both testified under oath that Michael never did anything inappropriate toward them. Safechuck and Robson, the latter a self-proclaimed ‘master of deception,’ filed lawsuits against Michael’s estate, asking for millions of dollars. Both lawsuits were dismissed. This so-called ‘documentary’ is just another rehash of dated and discredited allegations. It’s baffling why any credible filmmaker would involve himself with this project.”

Earlier today certain media ran an item relating to a film included in the lineup of the Sundance Film Festival. The Estate issued the following statement to media reporting the story:
“This is yet another lurid production in an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on Michael Jackson. Wade Robson and James Safechuck have both testified under oath that Michael never did anything inappropriate toward them. Safechuck and Robson, the latter a self-proclaimed ‘master of deception’, filed lawsuits against Michael’s Estate, asking for millions of dollars. Both lawsuits were dismissed. This so-called ‘documentary’ is just another rehash of dated and discredited allegations. It’s baffling why any credible filmmaker would involve himself with this project.”
Unfortunately, anyone can release a documentary and they do not have to secure permission to do so. The only time the Estate has any potential recourse is when a documentary or other film uses intellectual property such as music or video that is owned by the Estate and is not protected under “fair use” claims, which of course the Estate is monitoring. You may recall the Estate filed litigation against Disney earlier this year for violating its intellectual property rights.
As the Estate said, the individuals featured in this documentary have had their claims rejected in court.
Furthermore, Michael was declared innocent in the criminal case against him. No documentary can change that.

Additional Statement from the Estate of Michael Jackson
The following is an additional statement from the Estate to the fan community about the film that was added to the Sundance Film Festival yesterday:
To the fan community:
First and foremost, Michael Jackson is our friend. We each have a long history with Michael and are passionate about making sure that the world sees the compassionate, spiritual and extraordinarily talented man that we know. It is our love for Michael that fuels our efforts to both entertain and educate the world about him as an artist and a human being.
It is also why we, as Michael’s friends and fans, are disgusted by the false accusations that continue to be repeated in an attempt to denigrate the reputation of our friend and to cash in on some small interaction with his life.
As we pointed out in our statement to the media last night and which has now been confirmed by others, this newest so-called ‘documentary’ features Wade Robson and James Safechuck – two disgruntled individuals who are admitted liars and who have testified under oath that Michael Jackson never did anything inappropriate to them. They are participating in this project only after their veiled attempts to extort monies from the Estate failed and, thanks to the efforts of the Estate’s legal team, their lawsuits against the Estate were dismissed. This is one more opportunistic attack on Michael’s vast legacy and stellar character by people looking to gain attention and benefit financially. It is pathetic.
Just like you, we want to shut down every single offensive story, documentary, book, and scurrilous accusation. However the Estate has to base its legal actions on what kind of claim it can make in a court of law. The law offers certain protections for Michael’s right of publicity but unfortunately, those protections do not extend to documentaries or other films about him. The Estate cannot sue for these libels and slanders of Michael because the law does not provide for civil lawsuits defaming a deceased person, no matter how malicious the lies about him are.
In most cases, we do have the ability to stop the infringement of copyrights in the materials owned by the Estate . If we find that is the case with this production, then as we did with the program that recently aired on ABC-TV where we filed a suit against Disney, the Estate will pursue those claims. If we file a lawsuit that is not permitted by law and thus we have no chance of winning, all we would be doing is giving these liars a public forum to repeat the false claims that have already been dismissed in court.
We will continue to do everything in our power as executors of the Estate. And fans should too. Voice your outrage to the people that run the Sundance Film Festival, the director/producer, Dan Reed, and/or HBO and UK Channel 4 who helped create this exploitive film . Share your thoughts and feelings. It is a disgrace that they are giving a platform to these to perjurers in a production that calls itself a documentary.

Warum können sie michael jackson mit diesen beschämenden Lügen nicht einfach inruhe lassen das ist mitschuld das ehr so früh gestorben ist sonst würde ehr warscheinlich heute nich leben aber diese Leute haben ihn fertig gemacht
Weil die Leute dahinter ganz bewusst Michaels Ruf zerstören möchten und sie ihre Chancen steigern wollten, an richtig viel Geld ran zu kommen. Seit Robson mit den angeblich unterdrückten Erinnerungen im Jahr 2013 raus kam (dies, nachdem er im Arvizo-Fall 2005 vor Gericht ausgesagt hatte, nie von Michael Jackson unsittlich berührt geworden zu sein), wurden den Medien in schönen Abständen „Neuigkeiten“ zugesteckt. In dem Sinne – wovon man immer wieder liest, das muss wahr sein. Immer, wenn man dachte, jetzt sei es ruhig, tauchte wieder eine Meldung auf. Dabei wurden auch alte Gerüchte aus den Zeiten von den Chandler- und Arvizo-Fällen neu aufgewärmt – obwohl diese längst als unwahr widerlegt worden waren. Doch die Medien teilten die Storys weltweit. Genau das wollten sie erreichen. Nun wurde der neuste Fall zwar vor Gericht zurückgewiesen, aber sie wollen doch noch was verdienen und landen nun diesen Coup mit dem Film. Ausgerechnet jetzt, wo der Tod Michael Jacksons dann 10 Jahre seither ist. Ja, die Vorwürfe haben Michael ins Grab gebracht…
Ich hab gleich die Petition unterschrieben und e-mails an die angegebenen Adressen geschrieben. Die Ausstrahlung dies Lüge muss unbedingt unterbunden werden.
Ich habe dt. und engl. Bücher und seine Biographien gelesen und seine Botschaften bei seinen Vorlesungen in Oxfort kombiniert und weiß, was sein Bestreben war und was er erreichen wollte und was er gar nicht leiden konnte. Deshalb sage ich ganz klar, dass er ein ganz besonders vorbildlicher Mensch war, von dem wir alle lernen sollten. Die, die ihm nicht glauben können, sind einfach in sich zu schlecht und können sich nicht vorstellen, dass es einen wirklich anständigen und liebevollen Menschen in der Art gibt. Verbietet diesen Lügenbaronen und Geldgierigen diese Lügen über MJ wieder und wieder zu verbreiten. Das hat gerade er nicht verdient. Es paßt ganz und gar nicht zu seiner Intuition, aber zu deren, die es verbreiten wollen. Nochmal können Sony und Konsorten ihn nicht umbringen, but R.I.P.

Es kann VERDAMMT NOCHMAL NICHT WAHR SEIN, DASS SOWAS IMMERNOCH Möglich, erlaubt etc. ist obwohl jeder gescheite und intelligente Mensch weiß und schon immer wusste, dass auch VOR dem UNSCHULDSBEWEIS Michael Jackson KINDERN NIEMALS etwas angetan hat! Ganz im Gegenteil!
Und das soll jetzt wieder einfach so behauptet werden, nachdem ihm das immer wieder vorgeworfen wurde und letztendlich ins Grab brachte?
Die kriminellen Machenschaften von Tom Sneddon, Martin Bashir und co, der ganzen Paparazzis und der Klatschpresse wurden sowieso schon nie geahndet und jetzt das! Immernoch, nach 10 Jahren seines Todes, was ein Zufall, was?! Wer hat etwas davon, sind diese Menschen wirklich so grausam, geisteskrank und notgeil, dass sie immernoch über Michael rumlügen müssen und damit wahrscheinlich wieder Profit schlagen wie Mjs ganzes Leben eigentlich.
Und angeblich soll ja auch seine Tochter an seiner Unschuld zweifeln obwohl diese besagte Doku nichtmal draußen ist…..entweder die Presse lügt Mal wieder oder sie hat auch nicht mehr so alle Tassen im Schrank!
Ich verliere echt bald den Glauben, denn auch die „Befürworter“ Michaels im Prozess damals sollen laut Presse jetzt diese Lügen, nichts als Lügen verbreiten!
Das ist wirklich ein gefährlicher Trend diese „metoo“ Debatte und schießt wirklich nach hinten los und auch mit den jüngsten (erneuten) Anschuldigungen auch gegen R. Kelly, die ich zwar auch nicht glaube, aber, das hört sich jetzt doof an, da weiß ich ja leider wirklich nicht ob da IRGENDetwas dran ist….trotzdem ist er unschuldig bis seine Schuld vielleicht „bewiesen“ wird!
Aber Michael war, wie gesagt, niemals ein „Kinderschänder“, sondern unter andeem einer der unschuldigsten Menschen überhaupt und das ist die einzige Wahrheit!!
Ich habe diese Petition unterschrieben, weil ich glaube, dass es jetzt wirklich genug ist. STOPP-IT!!! Unglaublich….es gibt Menschen, denen nichts heilig ist, wenn es ums Geld geht. Ich hoffe, es gelingt!
